How HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Works 

1. Heating System (Furnace & Air Handler)

• The furnace uses gas or electricity to generate heat and is properly sized to the living area. 

• Cool indoor air is drawn into the furnace and passes over a heat exchanger, where it is warmed. 

• The blower fan pushes the heated air through ductwork, distributing it to every room. 

• The difference is strategically placed, and properly sized, cold air returns and ventilation registers. 

2. Air Conditioning (Condenser & Air Handler)

• The outdoor condenser compresses refrigerant and sends it to the indoor air handler (furnace). 

• Warm indoor air passes over a cold coil, removing heat and moisture. 

• Cooled air is distributed through ductwork to every room. 

• In heating season, a gas or electric furnace warms the air instead. 

3. Smart Thermostat Control

• Digital or app-based thermostats let you create climate zones, schedules, and energy-saving modes from anywhere. 

4. Whole-Home Humidifier 

• In Colorado’s dry climate, humidifiers help maintain ideal humidity levels, preventing dry skin, static, and hardwood shrinking. 

• These systems add moisture directly into the airflow and are controlled by a wall-mounted or integrated digital humidistat. 

5. High-Efficiency Filtration & Ventilation

• Multi-stage filters and optional air purifiers remove allergens, dust, and pathogens. 

• Fresh-air intakes or ERVs (energy recovery ventilators) improve indoor air quality year-round.
